About a week ago I said that I wanted to go back to using mineral foundation because it's better for my skin and it looks more natural. I asked for everyone's favorite brands and I got a lot of Bare Minerals answers. I didn't want to go back to Bare Minerals because (1) they're way too expensive (2) last time I used their line my skin looked greasy (3) when I tried to build up the coverage it just ended up looking cakey and a mess. So, what did I do? I went to YouTube, of course. I went really general with it and just typed in, "mineral foundation reviews" and close to the top I saw a video titled 'The Great Mineral Foundation Face-Off!' so, of course, I had to watch it. I had never heard of Terra Firma before and I was kind of surprised that it was in the review. Most indie companies don't usually get spots in things like this. So, the neutral party took all of these foundations, numbered them and put them into towers for other people to use and rate. No one but the person that numbered them and transferred them knew which was which. The products ranged from high-end to indie and the indie brand got a lot of love from the guy that made the video. So, since it was the cheapest ($14.99 for 20 grams) I decided to try it out. I mean, it didn't come in dead last in any of the reviews so, that was pretty promising.
I ordered it on Friday, November 2 and got it in the mail the next day and I only paid for economy shipping. Now, I only ordered the foundation and they're based out of Washington (I live in Washington) so, I'm sure that had something to do with it. BUT I really liked that as soon as I ordered, they shipped it and I like that I'm supporting a small business from the state I live in.
I picked the HydraSilk Loose Mineral Foundation. I have normal/dry skin with an oily t-zone so my problem is that I can't wear anything that's drying and will help my oily t-zone because it'll dry out the rest of my face and I can't wear anything moisturizing because it makes me look even more oily. So, I chose this foundation for a few reasons. (1) Buildable coverage (I have a lot of redness) (2) Amino acids that hydrate and heal (acne prone skin that can get dry) (3) Skin smoothing minerals (who doesn't want that?)

Sedona Lace Brush 480
I applied this with a clean blush brush. My powder brush had MAC Studio Fix on it and the Sedona Lace 480 that I ordered hasn't gotten here yet but I couldn't wait any longer to try this foundation out.
I also used Oil Absorbing Mineral Veil from Pumpkin & Poppy (a life saver) and Oak Bark Cool Toned Contouring Powder. I love these two products, I'll never again go a day without either one of them!
Concealer under my eyes from Urban Decay. It's the concealer pencil in CIA. Under my eyes is the ONLY place I have concealer.
Mascara is Smashbox Photo Finish in a sample size.
Brows MAC Spiked.
I forgot to take a before picture, so my before picture is a picture taken when I was playing around with shadows last week. I usually take these pictures to use only my eye so, don't judge the weirdness of them. As you can see I have A LOT of redness and really shiny skin.
After picture is with Terra Firma HydraSilk foundation in Sunlit Terra from the 'Light' range. Oil Absorbing Mineral Veil from Pumpkin & Poppy on my t-zone and a bit of contouring powder. Concealer is only under my eyes. Nothing was used under the foundation except for a regular moisturizer, Aveeno Positively Radiant.
NONE OF THESE PICTURES WERE EDITED IN ANY WAY OTHER THAN BEING CROPPED AND RESIZED.
Ignore my hair, it needs to be straightened.
Just for kicks, this is what my face looks like with PRIMER, LIQUID FOUNDATION & MAC STUDIO FIX PRESSED POWDER. My redness is barely even covered by ALL of these together.
So, overall thoughts? I LOVE THIS STUFF! It's the most amazing foundation I've ever used, it overs EVERYTHING while making my skin look so healthy and bright. My skin actually look radiant! It feels amazing on my skin, it's not heavy at all and when I touch my face it just feels like I have moisturizer on. I can't wait to get my brush from Sedona Lace and the other stuff that I ordered today from Terra Firma Cosmetics. I ordered concealer, tinted moisturizer and Hocus Pocus Under Eye Powder (at the bottom the the concealer page)!!! I'll show another full face picture using the concealer and under eye powder when I get it! I'll also take better full face pictures with no makeup.
Are you impressed? Do you think you'll order? Are you surprised it's from an indie company?!
